Smart set for 12th Donny victory, look out for Pothole at Youghal

LOOK SMART can make it a straight dozen wins over the course and distance with victory in Doncaster's 450m open at 8.16.

Kirsty Grayson's dog powered to success in heat and final of a recent competition here and can again make a decisive move in the second half of the contest although Cunnigar King could prove troublesome on his immediate inside initially.

David Fradgley's classy Rental Crisis has suffered a couple of setbacks on his last two Donny appearances but regained the winning thread at Sheffield recently and can make it six victories in ten starts here by landing the 7.42 over 275m.

Other Doncaster open fancies are Bev Heaton's Grovenor Sophie (6.11), Mark Newberry's Bogger Cash (7.58), Barry Denby's Aghaburren Ben (8.34) and Ricky Overton's Corporal Jack (8.52).

Overton can also score at the early meeting at the South Yorkshire track with his Roundies Shadow strongly fancied for the B3 finale over 450m at 1.12.

Best bet of the day, however, could be Pothole Bob in Youghal's A4 opener over 525 yards at 1.49.

Kevin McLean's June 2024 youngster made a winning career debut in the heats of an unraced competition here earlier in the month and, although the runner-up comprehensively reversed form in the final, it may well be that this level proves a generous graded introduction.

Trevor Varian's Loughiney Magic (4.18) is a subsequent fancy at the Irish coastal circuit, while Ron Peckover's Salthill Selby (8.09) can prove best second time up in the evening Oxford card.
