£10K Category One Puppy Derby details announced by Doncaster

DONCASTER is to stage a Category One Puppy Derby over its 450m trip across the last three Saturdays in October with every race live on sisracing.tv

Worth £10,000 to the winner, heats will be staged on Saturday 17th October, semis on 24th October and the final on Saturday 31st October.

Robert Watson, whose family own and operate Doncaster Greyhound Stadium, said: "We are delighted to announce details of the Category One Doncaster Puppy Derby over 450m in October.

"Doncaster has a proud record of staging major competitions over many years and, while it is disappointing that a slot couldn't be found for the Yorkshire St Leger this year, this puppy competition more that makes up for it.

"Who knows, there could be some possible contenders lining up at our sales next Friday [21st August]!"

It is understood that discussions are on-going over a new bitches' competition at Doncaster later in the year.
