All aboard the Ole bandwagon with Dibb charge ready to strike

THE OLD OLE TALE can open his Star Pelaw account at the fifth time of asking by building on a superb latest effort to land a D5 over 245m at 7.04.

Colin Dibb's charge was a regular scorer in low-grade sprints such as this at former base Harlow and, having been highly tried on his first three north-east starts, really caught the eye dropped to this level last time.

He paced up well only to be badly hampered at the opening bend but then rallied brilliantly in wet conditions to be beaten just half a length by a kennelmate suggesting that his turn is very close.

Oxford is the first Thursday meeting to start and Barrie Backhurst's Sussex Cosmos can make a winning six-bend debut in an S2 over 650m at 11.04, the step up in trip very likely to suit.

There is also morning action at Waterford with Joe Anglim's Saltees Royal (12.21) and Catherine Tuohy's Whiteys Miranda (12.38) capable of completing a rapid-fire trap one double, while Donal Casey's Varra Lasrach (4.37) and Stephen Stokes' Hidden Holly (5.14) can both win from trap two at the subsequent Irish meeting at Limerick.

Anna Jeffery's Hawkfield Jazz (4.26) looks set for a fourth sprint win in a row when tackling D2 company at Valley.
