Audrey powers to local success in BOYLE Sports Lifford Oaks heats

DRUMDOIT AUDREY proved a home heroine as she set the standard in the rescheduled first round of the €15,000 BOYLE Sports Lifford Oaks over 525 yards at the north-west track on Friday.

Locally owned and trained by Rebecca Porter and Alan Byrne, Drumdoit Audrey was off the pace early as Magical Fiona raced clear from Droopys Honor but the eventual winner made striking progress going into the third bend.

Setting her sights on the leader on the demanding run for home, Drumdoit Audrey got there when it mattered to prevail by three-parts of a length in 28.51sec (-20).

The syndicate-owned Gealltanas Grace claimed the scalp of ante-post favourite Droopys Crispy in heat two, getting first run and holding on comfortably by just under two lengths in 28.55sec.

Other heats went to Brendan Maunsell's Cosmic Dancer (28.66sec) and Pat Guilfoyle's Magical Be Nifty (28.77sec).

Draw for Saturday's semi-finals - first: 1 Ballymac Jetaway, 2 Droopys Honor, 3 Droopys Crispy, 4 Drveen Lass, 5 Cosmic Dancer, 6 Gealltanas Grace (w).

Second: 1 Magical Fiona, 2 Magical Be Nifty, 3 Unassuming, 4 Berry On Faya, 5 Droopys Mezza, 6 Drumdoit Audrey (m).
