Bacon Burrger earns GBGB's award as Grader of the Year

BACON BURRGER, trained by Paul Burr at Romford, is the winner of the 2025 GBGB Award for Graded Greyhound of the Year.

The September 2022 daughter of Malachi and Geelo Gold Dust was a standout performer for her owners Kevin Bacon and Paul Burr around Romford in 2025, boasting a graded strike rate of 45.2%.

‘Betty’ as she is known, recorded 14 wins in 31 races throughout the year, climbing the grades from A9 to A1 securing her home track’s ‘Graded Performer of the Year’ title in the process.

Speaking of the victory, Romford Racing Manager Mark Arkell said: “Bacon Burrger has been a real star at Romford for the Paul Burr kennel in 2025; she is cleverly named by her owners Kevin and Paul, to incorporate their names, she’s definitely not a spelling mistake.

"To go from A9 to Open class takes some doing and what a great training performance by Paul and his team.

"The four-timer is extra impressive winning A9, A8, A7 and A6 consecutively takes some doing. So well done to Betty.”

Arkell was also quick to praise trainer Paul Burr for this achievement adding: “Paul’s good to work with as he’s always happy. He certainly puts the miles in from Norfolk to Romford so awards like this are well deserved.”
