THE Irish Greyhound Laurels, one of Ireland’s most prestigious greyhound racing competitions, has been officially launched at Curraheen Park.

Now in the third year of an innovative four-year partnership, the event unites two fantastic supporters of greyhound racing, namely Bar One Racing, under CEO Barney O'Hare, a renowned name in the industry, and The Friends & Supporters of Cork Greyhound Racing, chaired by the legendary Jimmy Barry Murphy.

The Laurels offers a first prize of €30,000 to the winner, with an overall prize fund of over €60,000, making it one of the richest and most competitive greyhound events in Ireland.

Speaking at the launch, Tim Lucey, CEO of Greyhound Racing Ireland, underlined the importance of the Laurels: “Sponsored by Bar One Racing and a combination of greyhound fans locally, nationally, and internationally through the Friends & Supporters of Cork Greyhound Racing, the Irish Greyhound Laurels holds a special place in greyhound communities everywhere.

"Since joining forces with Bar One Racing in 2023, we have ensured that this event remains one of the most high-profile races on the Irish racing calendar.”

Barney O'Hare, CEO Of Bar One, said, "We are very proud to support the Irish Greyhound Laurels for the third year in a row.

"This competition is a true highlight of the racing calendar, showcasing the passion, tradition, and quality that make this sport so special.
