Desire sets the Corn Cuchulainn standard for Craze & Hennessy
LENNIES DESIRE took his six-bend record to six wins in eight starts with an authoritative performance in the opening semi-final of the Donal Beatty Memorial Corn Cuchulainn over 750 yards at Shelbourne Park.
Continuing the stunning run of owner Lee Craze and trainer Paul Hennessy - who have already landed the English Derby and Irish Oaks in the month of June - he was 10/11 favourite for the opening semi and made those odds look positively generous when leading off the second bend.
Ballymac Chantry chased hard to claim second albeit three and a half lengths adrift of the 41.09sec winner with the middle-paced Glengar Silent a length back in third.
Hennessy sent out the favourite for the second semi in the shape of Priceless On Ice but she had to settle for second behind Pat Buckley's impressive all-the-way winner Singalong Polly (41.20sec) with Highview Air through in third.
