Forecast drop in Tuesday temps set to see racing back on track

GREYHOUND racing in the UK is set to return to something like normal on Tuesday with a drop in temperatures forecast.
Seven meetings were cancelled on Monday in line with the GBGB's 'Hot Weather Policy' with those tracks that did race under close observation by the board’s regional regulatory veterinary surgeons and stipendiary stewards to ensure full compliance with the policy.
Tiffany Blackett, GBGB executive veterinarian, said: “Greyhound welfare is paramount in our sport, so I am pleased to see tracks ensuring that the safeguards in GBGB’s Hot Weather Policy are properly implemented amidst the ongoing heatwave.
"The Policy, which was written with the input of a range of veterinary professionals, provides guidance on maintaining the optimum temperature for all greyhounds and ensures no racing takes place in unsafe conditions.
"It is particularly pleasing to see tracks acting early to avoid any unnecessary transportation when racing may be cancelled.”
