Free entry at Star Pelaw Monday as GBGB's third NGW starts

THE GBGB’s third annual National Greyhound Week (NGW) begins on Monday, 25th August, with stadia across the country set to showcase the best of UK greyhound racing.
As well as offers for reduced stadium entry fees - Star Pelaw's special Bank Holiday 13-race fixture featuring eight opens is free to attend - tracks have organised a range of activities in line with this year’s NGW theme – Meet Our Sporting Legends.

Building on GBGB’s successful homing campaign – Adopt a Sporting Legend – which featured rugby legend Joe Marler, racegoers will have the opportunity to meet both racers and retired greyhounds at tracks during the week.

Many tracks are partnering with local homing centres to bring ex-racers along who are searching for their forever homes.
For a second year, GBGB will be running its NGW Trap Challenge which features a table for four in the restaurant at a licensed track of their choice for the winner.
Individuals must be over 18 to enter and can do so at their local track throughout NGW, with the competition closing on Sunday, 31st August.
GBGB will also be taking its NGW roadshow to licensed stadia up and down the country again when representatives, including Regional Regulatory Vets, will be on hand to speak with spectators about everything from getting involved with ownership to homing a retired racer.
Dates of the GBGB Roadshow include:
- Monday 25th August: Monmore Green and Central Park
- Wednesday 27th August: Harlow and Yarmouth
- Thursday 28th August: Newcastle
- Friday 29th August: Nottingham and Sheffield
- Saturday 30th August: Romford
- Sunday 31st August: Hove, Sunderland, Pelaw and Valley
Cress Lee, GBGB's marketing manager, said: “We are excited to see the third instalment of National Greyhound Week get underway and are confident that tracks will attract some excellent crowds with the racing and activities they have offer.
"In line with the theme of Meet Our Sporting Legends, I also hope many racegoers will be able to experience up close both the thrill of racing and the joy of interacting with retired racers.
“Thank you to all tracks, homing partners and supporters of the sport who are backing this initiative and ensuring greyhound racing continues to thrive.”
