Future looks bright at Star Pelaw after new lighting is switched on
RACING at Star Pelaw will, quite literally, be seen in a different light from the fixture on Thursday 9th October after new track illumination was installed and successfully tested.
The work was undertaken and completed in two days earlier this week by RL Electrical Swindon Ltd with Richard Leniec and Josh Sealey spending 23 hours swapping old lighting for new.

Sealey, whose Josh Sealey Track Maintenance has also been consulting on track improvements at Star Pelaw, explained: "The lighting has doubled from 22,000 lumens [the international unit for luminous flux, measuring the total amount of visible light emitted by a source] to 44,000 - the main lights are now 240w LED and 120w on the winning line.
"We changed 63 fittings in total, with three on the winning line, and I couldn’t quite believe the difference myself on Tuesday when we turned them on!"
Kim Sanzone, head of Greyhound Racing Operations for Pelaw's owners Star Sports, said: "We're delighted to have the new lights, which are LED so should also be more energy saving, completed as part of the commitment we made to our owners and trainers, the difference is incredible.
"We're very grateful to Josh Sealey and RL Electrical for the speedy and professional work carried out to install them."
Star Pelaw introduces a third weekly SIS meeting from next Tuesday evening to complement its regular Thursday and Sunday, plus occasional Saturdays, schedule.
