Galway joining SIS service with On Faya Oaks final for starters
GALWAY is the latest track to join the sisracing.tv service and will start with a bang on Thursday 30th July with a meeting featuring the €10,000 final of the On Faya Galway Oaks which coincides with the famous horse racing festival in the city that week.
Located at College Road and often referred to as “The Sportsground”, Galway Greyhound Stadium has been a key part of Irish greyhound racing since its first meeting on 1st July 1932.
The Galway Greyhound Racing Company was established in 1929, and the venue quickly became one of the leading tracks in the west of Ireland, attracting large crowds and hosting major competitions over the decades.
In 1974, control of the track passed to Bord na gCon (now Greyhound Racing Ireland), securing its long-term future.
Today, Galway Greyhound Stadium remains an important racing venue, hosting regular greyhound meetings throughout the year, primarily on Friday and Saturday evenings.
The stadium continues to share its facilities with Connacht Rugby, making it one of Ireland’s most distinctive multi-sport venues.
With modern hospitality facilities and feature events such as the Connacht Derby, Galway Oaks and Champion Bitch Stake, the track remains a significant part of Galway’s sporting and social landscape.
Launched with coverage of the Galway Oaks final on Thursday 30th July, the track will feature regularly on SIS from the end of August onwards.

"This brings the number of regular Irish tracks featured on the schedule to 12 with further additions expected shortly.
"The collaborative approach to scheduling with tracks racing only once or twice a week provides a 'best of both worlds' balance.
"Tracks benefit from the commercial opportunities of having some of their racing tailored to bookmakers whilst the commitment to Friday and Saturday night racing ensures they continue to play an important role within local communities prioritising owners, trainers and on-course spectators for those meetings."
