GBGB education role continues with Dr Richard Payne first up
THE GBGB has announced that it will be continuing its programme of free education opportunities for licence-holders in 2026.
This will include various workshops and webinars on topics including the prevention of dental disease, exercise physiology and hygiene and safety practices for raw feeding in greyhound kennels.
Kick-starting the year’s events will be Dr Richard Payne, who will be delivering a webinar on the greyhound’s specialist musculoskeletal adaptations to exercise which will take place on Thursday 29th January [1.00pm – 2.00pm].
Dr Payne is an Associate Professor of Veterinary Anatomy at the University of Nottingham and a scientific and veterinary advisor to the GBGB.
During the session, Dr Payne will review of adaptations needed for any running animal, from gazelles to cheetahs, before focusing on the racing greyhound to explain how they have evolved to become one of the world’s supreme athletes.

This topic will benefit all those involved in the training and care of racing greyhounds to better understand their physiology.
The talk will be held online via Microsoft Teams and will be followed by a Q&A session.
All GBGB-licensed persons are welcome to attend. Those who attend the webinar ‘live’ will be accredited with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points.
