Hawk drawn for Valley win, giddy for Elvis at Waterford

MAGICAL HAWK has to be of serious interest on the draw in what is effectively a Welsh Derby trial stake over Valley's 460m course at 6.29.

Mike Burton's charge is having his first race at the venue but has had a trial and brings form in high level races into the contest.

His pitch on the rails could prove decisive given the two greyhounds on his immediate outside have never been round the track.

There is some decent quality in the field especially out wide but the selection looks the most likely to secure a clear run and gets the vote on that basis.

There are also two maiden opens over the trip for which the suggestions are Nathan Hunt's Fun Time Frankie (5.53) and Shaun Gresham's Ballymac Drasher (7.58), Frank Bryce's Baggios Bliss (7.42) can land a maiden sprint, while Burton's Face The Storm (7.04) will be tough to beat over six bends.

First meeting under way is at Waterford where a first-ever drop to A7 company can see Louise Whall’s Giddyup Elvis regain the winning thread at 11.45. 

An A6 winner in late July, he ran far better than his finishing position suggests in a stronger contest last time and has the sectionals to be up there from the off today.

Other Waterford fancies are Crack On Ziggy (12.21) and Slaneyside Tegan (1.12), while Shanakyle Sally (3.03) and Alleen Grove (3.41) are the standouts at Limerick this afternoon.
