Hawkfield Irish set to improve on his recent near-misses at Valley

HAWKFIELD IRISH has gone very close in his last two appearances in the grade and is fancied to make it third time lucky in Valley's A3 over 460m at 4.44.

Donna Davy's dog has a four from 11 record at the level and has twice only succumbed late on recently having got to the front.

The make-up today suggests he could be in control relatively quickly and he can build a winning lead if that does prove the case.

The other afternoon meeting is at Limerick where Michael Ryan's unexposed Leftthelightson (3.41) could be set for a second career success.

First meeting under way is Oxford where Terry Nevin's Fluff The Punt (11.21) looks to have a great chance to make all against A3 rivals, while Patrick O'Neill's Risk It Duke (12.21) stands out at Waterford where he is dropped to the A5 grade he was a six lengths winner in back in January.

The evening action comes from Star Pelaw and Suffolk Downs with Rob McCarthy's hat-trick seeking Glengiblinbadger (6.29) and Jason Ray's Savana Pepper (7.14) the respective suggestions.
