Latest webinar by GBGB's Payne announced: 'Exercise Physiology'
THE GBGB has announced that it will be continuing its programme of free education opportunities for licence-holders in 2026.
Professor Richard Payne delivered the first of the 'Continuing Professional Development [CPD]' sessions for the year in February with his webinar focussing on the musculoskeletal adaptations which greyhounds have, making them built for running.
Dr Payne will be delivering the next webinar in his series on greyhound anatomy and physiology on Thursday 2nd April (14.00–15.00).
During this session, ‘Exercise Physiology: The Truths and Myths’, Dr Payne will explore the metabolic processes that occur within muscles to generate energy for movement.
He will discuss a greyhound’s reactions to exercise, highlighting the importance of warm-up and cooldown activities in preparing and regulating muscle metabolism.
The session will also cover muscle-related conditions such as cramp and acidosis.
Dr Payne is an Associate Professor of Veterinary Anatomy at the University of Nottingham and a scientific and veterinary advisor to the GBGB.
This free event is open to all GBGB licence holders, and trainers, kennelhands, and racecourse staff are all encouraged to attend.
The session will be held online via Microsoft Teams and will be followed by a Q&A.
Those who attend the webinar live will be accredited with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points.
