LENNIES DESIRE emulated former Paul Hennessy kennelmate Priceless Jet by breaking Towcester's 500m track record on Saturday.

Running in heat two of the PricedUp.Bet Derby Plate, the Maiden Derby third quickly took command and went on to score by almost three lengths from a gallant Romeo Tomcat in posting 28.39sec (+10), an improvement of five spots on Barntick Best's previous mark set last October.

Priceless Jet had twice set the record with 29.11sec in May 2021 then 28.78sec in June 2022.

Saturday's other Derby Plate heat winners were Graham Holland's Val Tashadelek (28.69sec), Esther Driver's Hopes Ompaloompa (28.86sec) and Nathan Hunt's Scooby The Boss (28.99sec), while Richard Rees' Zenith Quincy (28.82sec) was the standard-setter in the greyhoundtrader.com Stakes over the same trip.
