Megan can relaunch racing at Suffolk Downs with classy run

FOR the first time since summer 2024, greyhounds will head to traps for competitive action at Suffolk Downs tonight as racing at the track returns following a devastating fire there.
There are ten opens on a 12-race card and it seems appropriate that the first, a 388m contest which begins proceedings at 6.04, features Patrick Janssens' Yahoo Megan, a 15-times winner at the venue in the past including one double-figure sequence.
She will be prohibitively short from a betting point of view but can produce a performance worthy of what is quite a momentous occasion even if it is just a starting point in building back.
Janssens should enjoy further success with his St Leger finalist Fabulous Heka a standout in the 7.14 over 716m, while Michelle Brown is another trainer with multiple claims including Tomahawk (7.31) and Gothic Opera (9.18).
Best bet of the day could come in a 548m open at 6.56 where Jason Smith's Westfield Vicky can improve on her five from seven record at the track.
This is definitely less demanding than some contests she has tackled of late and she moved well when posting 23.89sec in a refresher trial over four bends here.
At Star Pelaw, Jo Atkins' King Morrison can reverse a narrow heat defeat at the hands of Favourite Rogue to land the featured Maiden Monkey Sprint final over 245m at 8.16 with other open picks at the north-east venue being Sam Atkinson's Baby Cupcakes (6.11) and Glenn Foot's Ainster Jim (7.58).
Tralee has a morning card with Edward O'Sllivan's Underdainfluence fancied to complete a six-timer when he goes in an A2 over 525 yards at 12.38, while there is also early action at Towcester where Mattie Richards Montalto Mist appeals in the A3 finale over 500m at 1.03.
Harlow and Oxford hold the afternoon fort with the respective suggestions being Sharon Saberton's Fortunate Rose (2.33) and Terry Nevin's Savana Boycie (5.46)
