Prime Top Notch was top lot at Star Pelaw going to an online bid of £7,100

THE most recent UK track sales, headed by the team at Greyhound Trader, were held at Star Pelaw on Thursday 14th May, with a total of 48 greyhounds travelling from Ireland.

It did not take long to see the fastest greyhound of the day who was in the very first trial for legenearly trainer Fraser Black who has recently returned to the UK sales circuit.

His charge, Gripwell Sammy, recorded a calculated 26.24sec on his first look at the venue and the June 2024 son of Ballymac Cashout sold for £2,100 to the kennels of local trainer Glenn Foot.

Another early lot to trial was Royal Navy who was an emphatic winner of his trial in a time of 26.42sec.

Supplied by the Tipperary-based John Kennedy kennels, the December 2024 son of English Oaks winner Billys Diva impressed enough for Jimmy Fenwick to snap him up.

Top lot of the day was Prime Top Notch who sold for £7,100 to owner Doug Fairbairn and will be sent to trainer Martyn Wiley at Romford.

One of the youngest in the catalogue being a February 2025 whelp, he showed plenty of pace in his trial having not been the sharpest at the boxes to still win by over 11 lengths in 26.87sec.

He was sold by Sean Conway who also supplied the most lucrative trial of the day.

It was won by two lengths in 26,45sec and subsequently led to Frankton View being sold for £4,500 to the UK's newest trainer Karl Parsonage at Sheffield.

The British-bred daughter of Grangeview Ten got the better of  a Walks The Talk who checked at the sough when leading and clearly left time on the track before being sold for £4,200 to Debbie Calvert at Doncaster.

In total, 44 of the 48 greyhounds in attendance sold at a clearance rate of 92% and total sales aggregated to just over £85,000.
