Nifty just Magical as she leads home Guilfoyle Galway Oaks 1-2

MAGICAL BE NIFTY (9/2) stole a march on strongly-fancied kennelmate Magical Mag (5/6F) as she led home a Pat Guilfoyle 1-2 in the €10,000 final of the On Faya Galway Oaks over 525 yards.

Outsider Ballyhoe Natalee was marginally first to show but Magical Be Nifty had the best early pace and led round the opening bend.

Magical Mag also went up well and, cutting inside from five, was perhaps only a length behind rounding the first couple of bends, but that was as close as the favourite would get.

Striding on well, Magical Be Nifty never looked threatened and powered on for a two lengths victory over Magical Be Nifty in an excellent 28.73sec with Ballyhoe Natalee fully eight lengths back in third.

The June 2024 winner, a daughter of Droopys Jet and Magical Poppy, is owned by the trainer in partnership with his brother Donal.
