Prince pounces to land first Cat 1 for owner Lucas & trainer Browne

GINGERS PRINCE credited both owner Alan Lucas and trainer Patrick Browne with their first Category One success thanks to a last-gasp victory in the £10,000 final of the BetGoodwin Pall Mall over 450m at Oxford.
Slightly uneasy favourite Rioja Oisin (11/8 from an opening evens) had looked set to prove the market wrong, leading up and always seeming to have his closest pursuer, kannelmate Union Rebel, at comfortable arm's length.
However, that view reckoned without the tenacity of Gingers Price (7/1 from 10/1) who barged through into second at the penultimate bend and then inexorably closed on Rioja Oisin as the winning line loomed.
It was very much last stride stuff but the evidence of the camera confirmed that Gingers Prince had prevailed by a short-head in a very smart 26.43sec (-10) with Union Rebel anther three and a half lengths back in third.
