Return Package delivers when it matters to claim Dobbin Derby

RETURN PACKAGE, the 14/1 outsider of the field, was a surprise but thoroughly merited winner of the £1,000 Alan Dobbin Derby final over 435m at Star Pelaw.

Owned and trained by Savva Roberts, he was landing a first UK victory at the fifth time of asking having been beaten into second in the fastest of the heats.

He broke well from trap three and, although moving to his right and into slight crowding, still had the pace to lead the duo on his inside who bumped all the way to the turn.

Return Package then forged clear along the back straight to settle the issue and eventually came home more than five lengths ahead of a rallying Emilys Superstar in 25.54sec (+20)

Fastest time of the night came in an earlier A1 when Glenn Foot's Dreamin Porcha opened her account for the local handler in 25.45sec.
