Setanta rebounds in Kirby on sisracing.tv's Super Saturday
BALLYMAC SETANTA rebounded from odds-on defeat a week earlier to post the fastest time in the third round of Con & Annie Kirby Memorial over 525 yards at Limerick.
Super Saturday on sisracing.tv saw no fewer than 29 Irish races broadcast live and Liam Dowling's charge produced a fitting top-of-the-bill performance in the third of the eliminators in the €80,000 competition.
His second round conqueror, Graham Holland's Bockos Gold, had already put down quite a marker by taking the opener in 27.92sec but Ballymac Setanta was not fazed and went two spots quicker in heat three when seeing off kennelmate Ballymac Duffle by a hard-battled half length.
The winning margin looked like being far bigger when Ballymac Setanta raced well clear along the back straight but Ballymac Duffle really rattled home from three-quarters and would have been up given a few metres more.
Michael O'Donovan's Bouncing Monarch emulated Bockos Gold by maintaining an unbeaten record in the event with heat two victory in 28.29sec, the trainer doubling up as seven days earlier courtesy of Cushie Flytplan (28.11sec) in the finale.
Con & Annie Kirby Memorial (Limerick, final Saturday 18th April): 11/4 Ballymac Setanta, 4 Bockos Gold, 5 Ballydoyle Tina, 8 Bouncing Monarch, 12 Ballymac Duffle, 14 Getup The Boy, 16 Ballycowen Frank, Cushie Flytplan, 20 bar (e-w 1/4 1,2,3).
