Shelbourne Park Museum seeks more greyhound memorabilia
SHELBOURNE PARK is approaching almost 100 years at the heart of Irish greyhound racing - the first meeting was on 14th May 1927 - and plans are underway to further enhance the Shelbourne Park Museum which opened to great acclaim in 2024.
Over the decades, Shelbourne Park has been the stage for unforgettable nights, legendary champions, and historic victories.
From iconic trophies and framed winner’s photographs to race cards, jackets, presentation pieces, newspaper cuttings and unique memorabilia, each item represents a chapter in the rich tapestry of the sport.
As such, the museum is currently seeking donations or long-term loans of trophies and memorabilia connected to Shelbourne Park, particularly items won at the stadium or directly linked to its history.
Many treasured pieces may be sitting proudly on mantels, carefully stored in attics, or displayed in kennels and homes across the country.
By contributing to the museum, owners, trainers, breeders and racing supporters can ensure that these memories become part of a permanent celebration of Shelbourne Park’s legacy.
If you have items you would like to donate or discuss, the Shelbourne Park Museum would be delighted to hear from you. Please contact via email museum@grireland.ie
