SIS schedule amended ahead of November Towcester change

THE impending November departure of Kevin Boothby from Towcester has led to SIS announcing amendments to its greyhound schedule from next month onwards.

The changes are a mix of temporary and permanent giving a new look to the weekly schedule throughout October with Richard Brankley, head of greyhound operations for SIS, saying: "We have made these fixture changes and realignments in preparation for Kevin's departure from Towcester and the track going in a new direction there.

"Saturday nights have now ceased at Towcester whilst the track also swaps the Sunday for a Monday with Oxford.

"With Oxford then racing both a Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, their current Friday evening meeting will move forward to the afternoon for now.

"Thurles returns to action on Tuesday afternoon, 7th October, then the following week sees Star Pelaw move to three meetings a week with a new Tuesday evening slot, replacing Doncaster who move to a Wednesday.

"Open races have been added to the calendar for Tuesdays and the track is also set to stage hurdles racing following their recent installation.

"The conclusion of the Irish Derby later this month allows both Valley and Star Pelaw to step in and stage racing on Saturday nights in October as they have done on an occasional basis throughout the year.

"Tracks need to race at the weekend for their local communities and similar meetings will also be staged in November and December.

"Further news on the return of racing at Suffolk Downs is expected next week following a planned GBGB inspection and will factor in to further changes for November."
