Smooth start for Thurles as first SIS meeting at track goes well
THURLES made an impressive SIS debut on Tuesday 19th August with an eight-race programme producing winners from five different traps.
Richard Brankley, head of greyhound operations for SIS, said: "I was delighted to see the pictures come through for our first meeting at Thurles.
"The track becomes the 10th regular Irish venue on the SIS greyhound service in partnership with Greyhound Racing Ireland.
"With individual tracks featuring just once or twice a week, Irish racing can maintain the quality, competitiveness, and full field racing that both bookmakers and punters expect. We look to welcome additional tracks soon."
Initially, Thurles will stage a monthly meeting for SIS and will provisionally feature on the first Tuesday of each month.
The famous Townpark vene, which is home to the Tipperary Cup, opened in 1948 has been racing on Saturday evenings only.
