TOP class racing both sides of the Irish Sea on Saturday although top billing has to go to Shelbourne Park which has the quarter-finals of the BOYLE Sports Irish Derby.

Earlier, Pat Guilfoyle's Magical Major (7.48), Robert Gleeson's Carrick Scholsey (8.03) and Pat Buckley's Hopes Teddy (8.18) are picks in the second round of the Michael Fortune Memorial Derby Plate.

Principal UK meeting is at Doncaster where there is a full evening open card including the heats of the Yorkshire Derby over 483m in which Patrick Janssens' Romeo Tomcat stands out after his flying 29.02sec trial last weekend.

He can get off to a winning start in heat three at 7.58, Maxine Locke's rapid improver Turnthemagicon can take the opener at 7.24 with other heat fancies being John Flaherty's Naochra (7.42) and Ted Soppitt's Dunelm Dragon (8.16).

Donny also has a morning meeting with Janice Simpson's Good Berry capable of overcoming a double uplift for a debut victory when the pup goes in a B4 over 450m at 12.04.

There is evening open action at Oxford with Kevin Hutton's Start The Engine (7.14) and Heather Dimmock's Droopys Mikado (8.26) non-maiden picks over 450m and 650m respectively.

Derek Kehoe's Slaneyside Luna (2.08), Martin Murphy's Knockglass Wild (3.03) and Jake Faul's Inniskeen Ella (4.18) are afternoon picks at Youghal, while Towcester has an evening meeting with Anne Kirby's Rapido Ramona fancied in an A6 over 500m at 8.22.
