SUFFOLK DOWNS will stage a race meeting for the first time in 15 months on Tuesday after a tremendous response to a series of opens which were advertised.

The 12-race evening fixture comprises ten opens and two graded contests and will be live on sisracing.tv

Richard Brankley, head of greyhound operations for SIS, explained: ”Suffolk Downs received permission from the GBGB to advertise opens ahead of the first trials session back but it was very much a case of waiting to see how things went.

“It was all quite low-key but we are delighted with the response from trainers from whom it’s something of a vote of confidence in what they’ve seen so far.

“Everything at Suffolk Downs remains a work in progress but it will be great to have racing back and this will be another significant step towards a regular graded return later in November.”

Suffolk Downs has staged two trials sessions since being relicensed by the GBGB.

The last race meeting there was in July 2024, one day before the stadium was hit by a devastating fire.
