Tibet the star as Dowling claims early Juvenile Derby double

BALLYMAC TIBET starred in the 2025 Time Juvenile Derby heats over 525 yards at Shelbourne Park on Friday as the competition got under way a week later than scheduled following hot temperatures seven days earlier.

Liam Dowling's charge had landed the all-aged Champion Plate final over 550 yards on his previous Shelbourne start and there was little doubt about the outcome this time after the powerful sort led up over the shorter trip.

Sure enough, he maintained a strong gallop throughout and came home three and a half lengths to the good of recent Cork unraced competition winner Toolmaker King in posting a best-of-night 28.12sec.

Dowling had initiated a double when taking the opener with Ballymac Mint (28.33sec) as just 11 spots separated six of the other winning times, the outlier being Ian Reilly's Montana Shadow who had to dig really deep to see off two rivals in heat seven in clocking 28.65sec.

Shelbourne Park, in consultation with the event sponsors Time, have confirmed that all heats of the 2025 Juvenile Derby will now take place on Friday nights with sisracing.tv maintaining full coverage of the event.
