Tomcat completes unbeaten run through Donny Yorkshire Derby

ROMEO TOMCAT overcame a scare at the start to ultimately claim the £8,000 Yorkshire Derby final at Doncaster in emphatic fashion.

Trained by Patrick Janssens for Dave Firmager, Romeo Tomcat missed a beat at traps as Keefill Goose on his immediate inside took a flier but, crucially, the pinger then steered a middle course allowing the 4/7 favorite to pace up inside him.

Barging to the front at the opening turn, Romeo Tomcat powered clear from the second bend and came home almost four lengths to the good of Scooby The Boss in clocking 29.10sec (+10) for the 483m trip.

It was a second valuable win of the evening from the Firmager/Janssens combine as their Romeo Empire had earlier landed the £3,000 BGBF British Bred St Leger which was this year run as a one-off over the 661m corse,.

Sent off 1/8 favourite, he led from the first bend and, despite running very wide off the second, was never challenged as he came home almost six lengths ahead of Snowfall in 41.69sec (+15).
