BOUNCING MONARCH took sole possession of fastest-of-round honours in round two of the BOYLE Sports Irish Derby with a 29.11sec effort in Friday's closer having had to share the accolade with Sleight Of Hand when both clocked 29.10sec a week earlier.

However, Michael O'Donovan's dog was matched for the best third bend sectional of 16.87sec by Pat Buckley's Glengar Phantom who registered his time en route to an overall 29.48sec victory on Saturday.

In all, six heat leaders broke the 17.00sec third bend barrier, matching the 2025 total for the whole event and taking this year's running tally to 10.

The average winning heat time in round two was 29.35sec, nine spots quicker than the previous stage, with T1, T4 and T5 accounting for half of the winners.

The average winning SP was 3.35/1, almost a full point shorter, with approaching 44% of the heats going to the market leader.
