Brilliant Suffolk Downs six-timer makes trainer Brown a centurion
TRAINER Michelle Brown completed a Suffolk Downs six-timer on Tuesday 23rd December to register a first-ever century of open-race winners in a single calendar campaign.
Brown started the night requiring six winners to reach the milestone and, despite only being represented in six of the nine opens on the card, amazingly achieved the feat.
Crafty Prospero (1/10F) started the ball rolling with a routine 716m success against three rivals then the juggernaut rolled on courtesy of Golden Palace (10/11F), Savana Cosmic (8/15F), Bucking Bucks (15/8F) and Essex Gunner (6/4F) before Essex Abbigail's (4/1) landmark victory.
In eight Suffolk Downs meetings featuring open-racing since the track reopened in early November, Brown has recorded a remarkable 34 open victories.
Brown's previous open-race tallies since taking over the training licence from her mother Hazel Kemp in 2019 have been 54, 38, 29, 36, 60 and 74.
