Glengar can blitz semi rivals in Thurles Champion Bitch Stake

Glengar can blitz semi rivals in Thurles Champion Bitch Stake

GLENGAR BLITZ was the slowest of the three heats winners last week but it was a good run all the same and Pat Buckley's charge is strongly fancied to follow up in the opening semi-final of the Thurles Track Champion Bitch Stake over 525 yards at 8.48.

She has avoided the other two heat winners in the draw and has a great make-up as the sole seeded runner so the way looks set fair for her to quickly assert.

Buckley can complete a double with Singalong Cherry in the second semi at 9.06 where she again has the best of the draw, in her case on the rails, while other Thurles fancies are Ruairi Dwan's Borna Bunty (8.03) and Brian Hickey's Kilkenny Ringo (8.18).

There is earlier Irish action at Youghal this afternoon where the main fancy is Trevor Varian's Loughiney Magic in a sprint contest at 2.44.

Doncaster has a Saturday double-header with Ricky Overton's Slaneyside Jan capable of ending a frustrating run of near-misses when she goes in a morning D3 at 11.38, while the subsequent evening fixture comprises an all-open 12-race card starting at 6.11.

Rose Draper has enjoyed a great time of it with her Donny raids lately and that can continue with her prolific Audience (7.24), class-dropping Slippy Keith (8.16) and recent runaway winner Clongeel Goody (9.09) all having strong claims.

There is also evening open action at Star Pelaw where George Walker's Abbeyside Crypto (6.04), Roy Smith's Killieford Hanna (6.39) and Glenn Foot's Foulkscourt Bono (8.26) are obvious picks.
