Mai Tai stars in SIS Harlow sprint as trap six runners sweep board

MOANING MAI TAI, trained locally by Darren Whitton, was fastest in the heats of the SIS British Bred Sprint over 238m at Harlow.

Sent off 10/11 favourite for heat two, just ahead of 2024 champion Pro Parker (evens) in the market, Moaning Mai Tai effectively had the race won when pinging from trap six.

Clear by the first bend, she powered on to score by four and a half lengths from Pro Parker in 15.11sec.

The opening heat went the way of Maxine Locke's Keefill Zeus (3/1), who took advantage of an early stumble from long odds-on King Presley (4/11F) to quickly assert on the outside.

He was closed down somewhat to the bend but made it ahead and it was plain sailing from that point as he went on to win by nearly five lengths from Whitton's Moaning Gabriel in 15.25sec.

A clean sweep for trap six runners was completed in heat three where Sunnyside Ted opened his account for Dave Lee with a front-running success.

The 11/10 second favourite comprehensively out-trapped evens market leader Moaning Hearns to take early command and, although that rival paced up well to take second and provide Whitton with a third finalist, there was no catching the winner who prevailed by two lengths in 15.19sec.
