SIS backing British Bred sprint, Harlow makes Category One bid
HARLOW is re-launching open-racing with SIS backing a £3,000 British Bred Sprint later in June followed by the possibility of a Category One competition over the two-bend trip later in the year.
Harlow promoter Katie Bennison said: “I'm hopeful the SIS British Bred Sprint will soon be followed by a Category One over the same trip.
"With the loss of the Oxfordshire Sprint from the schedule we have applied to the ORPC [Open Race Planning Committee] to run a major sprint competition in early autumn."
The Essex track formerly staged the BGBF Sprint over the same 238m distance with the Michelle Brown-trained Pro Parker landing the most recent renewal in November 2024.
Other winners of that event at Harlow included the Dave Lewis-trained Ballyoak Petal, Luke Morrison's Signet Hawk and John Mullins' Sonic Emjay giving an indication of the reach of such competitions, while Lewis also landed a British Bred Scurry over 415m there with Dundee June.
Scheduled for three qualifying heats on Monday 22nd June, the first two in each will qualify for the final seven days later while there are supporting one-off opens and a maiden 415m competition advertised for both days.
Entries for all close at noon on Thursday 18th June and can be made via the racing office on 01279 639248.
