Storm blows in but Cece is now 365's fav for Donny Puppy Derby

FASTEST first round winner Returning Storm is 4/1 with bet365 for the Doncaster Puppy Derby title after setting the standard in the £10,000 Category One competition over the south Yorkshire track's 450m course on Saturday.

David Mullins' Romford raider had landed a Central Park maiden sprint final on his previous competitive start and showed terrific early pace in what looked a strong heat five to take command by the first bend.

Clear into the back straight, he powered on to score by six lengths from trackmate Cluain Denis in 27.49sec (-10) with Romford Puppy Cup finalist Westway Mario qualifying three-parts of a length away in third.

Returning Storm was completing a double for Mullins who had earlier sent out Shado Earth (27.69sec) to a shock 14/1 success in heat four.

However, it is the Romford Puppy Cup champion Carrigoon Cece who now heads the bet365 outright market at 3/1 after Michelle Brown's bitch completed a hat-trick with an impressive performance in the opener.

She catapulted from trap four and was soon well clear, coming home five and a half lengths to the good of Maree Shola in 27.55sec with Honey Trigger the other qualifier.

Other heats were won by Craig Morris' Lady Gambet (27.66sec), Mark Brighton's Frankton Grange (27.73sec) and Sam Lapidge's Cockneys Zachery (28.25sec).

The competition can be seen in its entirety on sisracing.tv with the semis on Saturday 24th October and the final seven days later.
