Surprise can prove something for the Lifford Weekend once again

WEEKEND SURPRISE registered a first career victory at the eighth attempt last week and can follow up in the same A6 grade in Lifford's 3.03 over over 525 yards.

Willie Mullan's bitch had been very consistent prior to that success, only once missing the podium in her seven previous starts, and she stretched out well when able to dominate.

There is not much between any of the field on sectional timings so the inside draw can prove a massive asset for the selection who is fancied to assert at the opening bend.

The Paul Whyte duo of Fridays Finn (2.44) and Fridays Dance (3.59) also look to have strong Lifford claims as does John McQuillan's Gamble Frank (4.56).

Clonmel is the evening venue where Canice Hyland's Foxrock Nell (7.04), the syndicate-owned Mustang Havoc (8.34) and Derek Kehoe's Slaneyside Badge (8.52) should all go well.

Valley is the first Sunday meeting under way with Tony Morgan's Kansas City Life capable of taking advantage of a drop to A6 company when she goes in the 12.38 over 460m.

There is also early action at Doncaster where Debbie Calvert's Heathmill Barron (11.21) looks to have a lot going for him in a D2 sprint over 275m.
